To avoid any misunderstanding, the 1080p mode is not the same as the 4K mode and it is not comparable to Rise of the Tomb Raider which offers three different modes. Watch Dogs 2 played in 1080p on PS4 Pro offers an improvement that most games will offer too: downsampling. Watch Dogs 2 renders the image with the native resolution somewhere between 1440p to 1800p and samples this down to 1080p. This results in a sharper image with less aliasing, as you can see in the two scenes at the beginning. We did not notice any further improvements other than a more stable framerate. There might be some very small shader and post processing improvements, as some of the lights in the night show a little bit more bloom. Watch Dogs 2 bietet in diesem Modus weder bis zu 60fps, noch größere Detailverbesserungen, wie das bei Rise of the Tomb Raider der Fall ist. Stattdessen macht sich Watch Dogs 2 die höhere Auflösung des 4K-Modus zunutze, berechnet das Bild also mit der nativen Auflösung zwischen 1440p und 1800p und bringt es dann via Downsampling auf 1080p. Dadurch wirkt das Bild schärfer, vor allem Kantenflimmern wird deutlich reduziert, außerdem wirken Kanten deutlich glatter. Zudem profitiert die PS4 Pro Version von einer stabileren Bildrate. Dazu kommen noch kleine Verbesserungen an den Shadern und am Post-Processing, manche Lichtquellen zeigen etwa einen stärkeren Bloom-Effekt.
