You can now use a USB storage device to install applications, or move applications from your PS4™ system storage.
Use a USB storage device that meets the following conditions.
How To Use your External Hard Drive
To be able to use your external hard drive, make sure that the one you have is utilizes USB 3.0. You can either use the 3.5 External Hard Drive or those portable ones. In my case, I used My Pasport 0810 Western Digital 500gb to be the external hard drive of my PS4, equipped with an additional 1TB WD Green 3.5 hard drive.
Step 1 Go to settings and go to Devices
Connect Your External HDD to Your PS4
Formatting your external hard drive is quite easy
You’ll be then asked to format it.
Click 'Format As Extended Storage'
Step 2: go to Settings Storage and browse your applications
Click the Options button and select 'Move to Extended Storage' to copy things across
