Unity 3D Neojac Intro MMO Building System



Introduction to the new MMO Neojac Entertainment is building with the community using the Atavism Online Engine. Here you can see the grid system that is developed in the engine to support modular housing being build in real time. That means other players will be seeing how you are building your house as you are doing it. The Atavism Engine is the server side and we are using Unity 3D as the client. We will be releasing the Atavism Platform early next year to other developers using Unity to build their own MMO games.

Just a quick update video that shows some of the new features I am implementing, (Some things weren't working properly but will be in the next video) Still using the same models/terrain, visual content however that will be easy to upgrade/swap out. Just focusing on function first. At this rate, we should be ready for testing in around 9 months.

- Chat, whispers, combat log(currently combined but will be separate)
- Buffs/including HOT's (self & other players) debuffs are almost done which includes DOT's.
- Basic Character Creation(will expand later)
- Changing zones is now networked which is significant because now I can add more areas to explore, etc.
- Synchronized Looting (Players see the same loot)
- More Stats/Character Attributes to choose from(To specialize your character at playing a particular role, Tank, Healer, Dps
- Corrected calculations based on stats, EX: hit, dodge, and parry chances, bonuses to melee, ranged, spells, and heals. Damage reductions based on element type.

Most of what I have been working on is behind the scenes, in code. Optimizing, and making the code more stable. I have added a massive amount of possibilities to the spells/abilities (still need to create abilities to use all of them) EX: Necromancers can heal themselves by 20% of all damage done, Palys can get mana returned to them from a heal they receive, Barbarians can specialize in dual wielding to increase offhand damage and accuracy. Mages have a mana over time ability, also a few other mana restoration skills, which can of course be improved by other passive skills to further specialize your play style.

Basically I added the framework/code for every possibility I could think of in terms of building your character to a unique specialization. EX: You can stack regen improvements and regenerate health so quick you may be able to tank even without high armor cause you'll heal so quickly. Damage Reflection, Elemental Weapons/Wands, Steal Life, Drain Mana, there are just too many things to list.

Updates are slow mainly because its just due to the amount of programming and its incredibly complicated at this point. With every feature/function I add the project gets progressively more challenging. So adding new functions has become very complicated, mainly due to everything needing to be networked. Otherwise I would have been done long ago haha.

Graphics and animation updates are coming soon, I have a few more critical areas to code (Quests, Boss AI, Pets/Mercs) and then I can focus attention to shaders, and overall artwork.
