Attack on Titan’s multiplayer patch turns what was a slog into a joy. You only need to make the killing blow on four or five titans yourself to get an S-rank, making teamwork a real asset. You can split up and handle the dregs quickly, then come together and take out the bosses at high speed. Strategy is likewise suddenly an option as one player can distract a titan while the others hack at its weak points. But best of all, levels that used to take thirty minutes now take ten.

Over 100 years before the beginning of the story, giant humanoid creatures called Titans suddenly appeared and nearly wiped out humanity, devouring them without remorse or reason. What remains of humanity now resides within three enormous concentric walls: the outermost is Wall Maria, the middle wall is Wall Rose, and the innermost is Wall Sina (Sheena). Inside these walls, humanity has lived in uneasy peace for one hundred years; many people growing up without ever having seen a Titan.

This all changes when one day, a giant 60-meter (200 ft)-tall Colossus Titan mysteriously appears after a strike of lightning and breaches the outer wall of the Shiganshina district, a town at Wall Maria, allowing the smaller Titans to invade the district. An Armored Titan smashes clean through Wall Maria, forcing mankind to abandon the land between Wall Maria and Wall Rose, evacuating the remaining population into the inner districts.

A.O.T.: Wings of Freedom closely follows the riveting story line of Attack on Titan’s first season and focuses on the exploits of various key characters, putting the player in a position to relive the anime’s most shocking, courageous, and exhilarating moments. It revolves around the story of three young people who survive the destruction of their walled city district by enormous, man-eating Titans and eventually go on to join the Scout Regiment in order to protect humanity from this overpowering foe.
