Box 448 Wilmington MA 01887 This is a current video of me playing the first MUD progenitor of all online mmo's available to the general public in the UK way back in 1986, there were some mud's which were earlier but they were restricted to on campus and academic users in the US and UK, but shades was the first available to the public. I used to logon to prestel with my 300 baud ? modem on a cpc6128, and play micronet shades were talking circa 1986 -1988. this video was made by recording a java session, from where the game can currently be played on the shades website, if a few more people logon perhaps a video with other players can be created. I can barely remember how to play the game so excuse me novicing about, but I wanted to create a video record of such an important peice of computing history. In this video you notice I have to turn bar twice I think this is because the draw bridge was already lowered from my previous attempt to record this game, persistent environment etc or perhaps there was another user anyways, i didnt check it was already down so i had to do it twice, lol anyways, the font is a bit funny in the java version but if you telnet in a decnt zmud client it probably could look a fair bit prettier, im pretty certain the prestel version had allot more text color variation etc, ill try and do a zmud video at some point. but the crazy thing is you can still play this game :) thanks to the guys at the shades website.http://games.world.co.uk/shades/Java/-http://gameprostar.com/top-5-mmorpg-expansions/-Expansions, MMORPG-Mmo Games Tweet Share Share Share Share Previous Post Next Post post written by: Rafael
