I don't know how to do that. Take out the game disc, hit home, go to settings, all settings, system, storage, then pick to clear local saved games. I don't want to lose all my games. It only clears the locally saved data, but you won't lose the games you actually have installed or progress you've made. So select yes at that point to clear the saved games. I think it restarts at that point. Sure, and after it comes up, try to install the game again. Rebooting and trying again doesn't fix everything, though Microsoft tech support thinks it does. Go to home, settings, all settings, network, network settings, go offline. Select to cancel download. I'd expect the download to be stopped. Just go to home, queue, select the game you're trying to install, menu, and cancel it just to be sure. Then disconnect it from the internet. That only kills the download for certain. Next you restart the console with the game disc out. While it is up but not online, put the game disc in. It should start installing at that point. After the game has installed, go to home, settings, all settings, network, network settings, go online. It should start prompting for game updates at that point. True, but if the game successfully installs, you know the install wasn't caused by it running out of memory trying to download both a game and its updates. If I was out of memory, I know the solution is downloading some content. What else can I do? Unplug the Xbox One from the internet, cancel the download, and then power cycle it. Why take it off the internet? To make sure the internet connection is stopped so that it will totally clear the cache and reboot the connection as it reboots the console. I'm wondering if I need to reboot my router while I'm at it. That's only necessary if everything else we try fails, though if you have a laggy or problematic connection when doing anything on a PC, rebooting the router is a good idea. I'd prefer some other way to verify my connection before rebooting everything. Hit the Xbox button on the controller, settings, all settings, network, network settings, then check the detailed network statistics. I could test the network connection instead, because that will tell me what the status of the connection is now, instead of the stats that are too old to be useful. You could also see if there are problems with the game download because it is trying to do a system update instead. I know you can go to settings, all settings, system, console info and updates. If it says there isn't an update available, that isn't the cause. Or I need to re-download the last update to fix the last update that failed.
